Looking for a taste of ‘Old Florida’ with space for up to 5 persons?
The Cottage started life in the early part of the last century somewhere North of Tampa Bay and was transported down to Anna Maria Island by barge to house construction crews working on the first bridge to the mainland, which opened in 1921.
It was later sold, and moved to a new beach front location, where the new owner had a bad experience during a storm in the 1930′s. He quickly decided that it would be safer away from the water and moved it to its central island location, raised it on poles to protect it from possible flood water and here it stands today.
The Cottage is small but snug, covering almost 775 square feet. There is a kitchenette, a small lounge area, bathroom of course and a separate bedroom that can be closed for additional privacy if needed. The central section offers two sleeping areas, one with a queen size and the other a single bed. The small lounge area has a sofa, recliner and incidental chairs. Today, the Cottage has been lifted to protect against flood and is accessed by a small flight of stairs.
